Sherene was born on the small West Indian Island of Jamaica. As a child she moved to the US with her parents and grew up in Brooklyn, NY.
She was a shy girl who mostly lived in her imagination. But, on summer weekends she’d spend her days in the pool her father built. She was the first in and the last out. Her love of water started there and she carried it throughout her life.
As an adult, her love of fantasy and water only grew and she became a professional mermaid.
The story of Mermaid Aria came to be as Sherene waited to meet her niece for the very first time. Aria (the baby) was born 3.5 months early and as Sherene waited, the story formed in her mind.
